Digital Photography October 21 Happy Birthday OdinHappy Birthday Odin
Odin, our Siberian Husky is 2 years old today!
Just a couple of pictures of the Birthday Boy....
He seems to feel special today as we are making a real fuss of him. Bless...
It only seems like yesterday, when we travelled all the way down south to pick him up, on a cold and wet December day.
He was only 8 weeks old and completely white when we first set eyes on him.
As we left the Kennel that day, all the other remaining Huskies were watching us leave, ears perked up and looking curious.
There were 5 adults at the Kennel, observing us curiously as if they knew that Odin was leaving for good.
We waved at them as we left and still keep in touch with the Kennel owner.
Odin is a big boy, larger than other Huskies and therefore can't enter dog shows but we don't mind.
He has a beautiful character and temperament.
Big Boy Odin - 2 Today
September 06 Siberian Huskies- Odin and BansheeOdin and Banshee are doing fine and they are as happy together as ever, after the long period of having been in season. I haven't been able to go on many walks just recently because the weather here is so bad. We are experiencing torrential rain and very windy weather conditions. When will it end? It really is no fun having to go out in this dull and dreary weather. Odin and Banshee spend a lot of time in the house, eating, sleeping and the occasional fight,...like they do. They are bored and I really sympathise with them. The summer is finally over and what a wash out it has been. I don't really mind the cold, but when the sky is covered in dark grey clouds, day after day, it really reflects on my mood and the dogs seem to feel the same. Lets hope for clear skies very soon...
Here are a couple of pictures I took this morning of the 2 rascals:
August 27 In Season - Out Of SeasonWe have just come to the end of the season for Banshee. She is only 8 months old and to our amazement had come into season 4 weeks ago. It has been an absolute nightmare, trying to keep Odin and Banshee separated during this time. I am so glad things are back to normal now and they can finally play together again.
We had no idea that a young dog of only 8 months could come into season and we were quite unprepared for this to happen. I had to read up on things and even requested advice from our vet. Keeping them both separate for 4 weeks was extremely difficult, especially because we only have a small house and very little space.
I dare say we have learnt a valuable lesson over the past month. It's just nice to be able to return to normality and I can finally take Banshee for walks again.
In about 6 months time we will have it all to come again, but at least we'll know what to expect and plan for it.....
July 08 Banshee's WalkBanshee and I went on a lovely walk today. We went onto the mud path and returned, taking the mountain road. We had fantastic sunshine, alhough it wasn't hot. Just another really mild summer's day. Along the way, we came across an array of flowers and some tranquil scenery. We both enjoyed our walk immensely. Can't wait to go again tomorrow, if the weather holds out. I just couldn't resist to take some pictures of the beautiful summer flowers we encountered. Banshee was very curious about the sheep in the meadows. She would have loved to have had a little run-around with them in the fields I guess....lol. We shall take a different route tomorrow and I will take my digital friend with me again.
Here are a couple of todays photographs, taken from the current album:
April 30 Early Morning - Sleeping BeautiesGood Morning Everyone
Another early rise for me. Odin kicked me out of bed at 5 o'clock this morning...again. He seems to need to relieve himself very early every morning these days... The funny thing is,...he goes back to sleep straight after and Banshee just coppies him. She's so cute. Her toilet training is still not quite complete yet, we still have the odd little accident, but she neeeds to go with Odin,...at 5 o'clock. Deary me, somehow I will have to try to catch up on some sleep...late nights, early mornings... I'm bushed, but once I'm up I can't go back to bed. Never mind,... here are a couple of pictures of my 'Early Morning Sleeping Beauties',....good as gold.
April 13 Odin and Banshee - quick updateIt's been a while since my last blog....I have been very busy tending other sites and working on photographs, amongst other things.
A quick update on my last blog entry: House-Training with Banshee is not going very well. After a promising start in the beginning, she doesn't seem to like to do 'it' outside at all. What a nightmare...my patience!... I spend a lot of time with her in the garden where she does do her morning relief quite well, but after that she only wants to play and run around, only to do 'it' again, as soon as we get inside. I am tired of little puddles and I suppose my mop-head will need replacing soon...Deary me,...if anyone has any advice for me I'd be very grateful...
Apart from that, as far as photographs are concerned, I have been very busy trying to capture the Spirit of Spring and created a couple of photographic collections accordingly. You can check out some of my sites, listed in the Custom List.
Every day, I take at least 1 photograph of Banshee in more or less the same spot ( my partner's idea..), and over a period of time you can really notice the change in her developement, see the Album: Banshee-Growing Stages
Once the weather gets better, I will take more pictures of Odin and Banshee outside. Unfortunately we're having a lot of rain at present and I can't really expose my camera to those conditions. I've taken a couple of pics indoors yesterday when they were taking over the living-room, playing rough... I shall add them to this blog.... Let's hope for better weather, soon. Thank you for your visit and your interest in Odin and Banshee....enjoy the pictures, kind regards, Maria
February 10 Banshee's 2nd weekWe are within our second week since Banshee's arrival. It's been hard work, trying to stay on top of everything, with a little puppy running around your feet everywhere and all the time. Odin and Banshee are most active in the mornings, while they wait for their breakfasts. Ater breakfast I have to take Odin into the garden and keep a close eye on Banshee, making sure she uses the newspaper sheets for her toilet training. It's going quite well, but we still have little accidents. You can't imagine how many times I had to wash the doggy blankets this week...well, all part of the fun I suppose. Right now, I am relaxing with a glass of wine...well deserved I believe. It's been quite a week. Just uploaded todays batch of photos. I took most of them in the garden this afternoon. It's all a bit bare still, but at this time of the year it would be. Can't wait for the first flowers of spring to sprout..... February 04 House-TrainingBanshee's house-training is going very well. We've had a fair few little accidents but that was to be expected. On the whole she is very good in choosing her spots on the newspaper sheets, which I have placed in several different areas. I will move the newspaper towards the back door as time goes on and hopefully she will choose just the one spot soon. Banshe has learned to climb the stairs. I was quite surprised when she paid me a visit in the upstairs study today. Going down is still a bit dodgy, she tends to slip and skip a few steps. Odin is always at hand, looking out for her constantly. He has been just wonderful, just like a big brother. January 31 Banshee has arrived! We are so happy! Banshee arrived last night! Odin is a bit bewildered and unsure. He is very gentle with her, considering his size. Banshee is a very confident little Husky girl and she stands her ground already....lol...so cute. I already introduced potty-training by placing a couple of sheets of newspaper by the back door. After having placed her on it after her first relieve, she already keeps going back to it, every time she needs to go. I am so impressed! Odin didn't take to it quite so quickly....
The first night went very well, with no major incidents. January 21 Odin is feeling better now!Odin had his 'wormwer' the other day and was a bit under the weather because of it. A necessary evil I suppose....has to be done on a regular basis. Sorry, Odin!
We are all very excited because in a week's time, we will be welcoming a new member to our family...a little Husky girl. Her name will be Banshee and if all goes well, Odin will have a little friend to play with by Wednesday next week.
There will be many more Husky photographs on this site and I am very much looking forward to the excitement, a new puppy will bring to our little den. The pack is almost complete! Can't wait.... Thanks for visiting!
